About Us

Welcome to the Rare Earth Elements and Chromite (REEChromite) Research and Development website. There exists significant economic potential for rare earth elements and chromite production in Canada, along with a need for science and technology to realize these opportunities. NRCan is leading this 6-year R&D program to develop an efficient extraction process, address Canadian regulations and improve our knowledge of REE and chromite deposits in Canada.

This site is hosted by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) on behalf of the program stakeholders. It provides information on the program, its participants, stakeholders, and the science and technology undertaken. It also includes summary reports (available to members) of project research and development.
